At the Hay-Adams, I wanted to establish a distinctive identity for a small independent hotel in the heart of Washington, D.C. Drawing on the property’s literary heritage as the former homes of John Hay and Henry Adams, I created the Hay-Adams Author Series—a contemporary salon that has welcomed many of the nation’s most distinguished authors. Over time, the series became one of Washington’s most sought-after events.
